O Canada, the 143rd…
We’re celebrating Canada Day — historically known as Dominion Day — the anniversary of Confederation here in Canada. July 1, 1867, the provinces now known as Nova Scotia, Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario came together creating the country of Canada. Over time, other provinces and territories joined Canada. 1870: Manitoba and the Northwest Territories 1871: British Columbia 1873: Prince Edward Island 1898: Yukon Territory 1905: Alberta and Saskatchewan 1949: Newfoundland 1999: Nunavut
We’re just not that old!
Today, all across the land, we’ll be celebrating – much as the U.S. celebrates the Fourth of July — with family picnics and backyard barbecues, with community events and fireworks, with music and laughter and love. And this year, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are visiting and will be in Ottawa for the day’s festivities.
Sending special Canada Day greetings to our Canadian soldiers serving around the world who cannot be with their families. You are in our thoughts and prayers this day. And a big shout out to the Canadian Navy, who is celebrating its centennial this year!

Mr. G, honey is working today, but I’m making his favorite food — Ribs! — for him and wearing my red & white. Hopefully, we’ll catch the fireworks this evening. Oh, yeah.
