I’d rather be…

May 17th, 2010

…gardening.

This is for my writer friends, and all of you who have difficulty with the M-word from time to time.

It’s in the seventies in my neck of Canadaland this week. The sun has shone, is shining, will be shining. All. Week.

I’d rather be gardening, at the waterfront, sitting in an outdoor cafe, riding my bike…

What I will be doing is putting words on the page. Hopefully, good words.

But I’m taking this mini outside. There’s no law agin’ it.

You find interesting and creative people on the intertoobs. Hugh MacLeod, aka @gapingvoid, is one of them. This rolled down in my email box this morning. It’s from Hugh’s Daily Cartoon, aka Hugh’s Daily Frickin’ Newsletter. I prefer the latter.

You know you want it. Get it here.

Hello, Monday!

Just kiss me…

February 2nd, 2010

Who would have thought that something expressed in so few characters would broaden my world, but it has. Yes. I’m talking about Twitter. Twitter is a world of discovery, baby!

And one of the many things I’ve discovered is the land of @gapingvoid — aka Hugh MacLeod — cartoonist, author, CEO. He speaks to me. I don’t question why. He just does. End of story.

It’s the talented cartoonist I’m focusing on here. This, from his Love series, came in my inbox today –

I’m thinking, Hell, yeah! Just kiss me. My kind of Valentine.

Are you listening, Mr. G, honey?

Mr. G?

Honey?

He should really wander over here more often and find out what I’m saying about him.

I’ve received seven of these original lovelies giving a nod to Valentine’s Day, the commentary with each and every one — priceless. I know. I know. @gapingvoid would not use the term lovelies, but we’re in the land of Elen now.

This one spoke to the romance writer in me –

When Valentine’s Day has passed, @gapingvoid will be returning to his usual edgy self. I’m looking forward to that, too.

Check out his site here. Or Hugh’s Daily Cartoon here. Go. See.

And MacLeod — You can draw cartoons on the back of business cards, on napkins, I don’t care. Just keep drawing them!

Yep. World of discovery. Srsly.
