Premature Spring…
Behold. And its name shall be called Hyacinth…
A work colleague gave this Hyacinth to Mr. G, honey for his birthday. It’s never been on my list of things to give the man, because I have environmental sensitivities to Hyacinthus orientalis — aka allergies — and have never had them in my spring garden, much less the dining room. Well, they’re in the dining room now. And I am not.
Okay. I admit it. I’ve dashed into the dining room everyday to snap pictures of this bulb-in-a-pot for the blog. The sacrifices I make for you. See Elen laughing.
It’s getting a bit of color now. And scent. It’s getting scent. Quick. Click. Run.
Not only is it getting more color, more scent, but the color of my dining room wall is changing. How did that happen?
We’ve hit February, and this baby is sporting some major florets. My eyes are watering and my nose is plugging while I take this pic, but I’m doing it for you. Greater love hath no blogger.
Whoa!
My work here is done, and I can never walk in the dining room again. I’ll be trapped in my office over the garage. That might be a good thing. I’ll be eating in the upstairs den until the ground thaws. This is Canadaland. It could be awhile.
Thank you work colleague of Mr. G, honey. I’m tearing-up over its gorgeousness. Really.
Hyacinthus orientalis is so showy and beautiful, I’d have it all over the garden… if I didn’t have environmental sensitivities.
Premature spring, baby!
Elen
