Bring the voice…

February 1st, 2010

Last week I went to see NINE, the movie musical. It was a visual feast, and the ensemble cast — Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson, Stacy Ferguson, Sophia Loren — were extraordinary. It’s the world of the famous 1960s Italian movie director, Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), and it’s spinning out of control — creatively, personally. And does it ever spin!

I’ll say it again. Visual feast. Go. See.

Watching NINE, listening to Daniel Day-Lewis as Guido, got me to thinking about what character — not what actor, but what character — I would most like to hear delivering my messages on the cell phone. You know, when that voice comes on and says, You have 3 new messages. To listen to your messages, press… That voice. What character would I most like to hear as that voice. Hello, Guido, baby! And if not Guido, then Roux in the movie, Chocolat. Oh, yeah.

What about you? What character would you most like to hear delivering your voice mail messages, or giving you directions on your GPS?

C’mere, Guido. C’mere, Roux. Come to Elen. And bring the voice.

Now, it’s your turn.

Hellooo, Monday.

My High School Musical weekend…

October 5th, 2009

I was enjoying the Friday YouTube dance scene from Footloose so much, that I rented the DVD for the weekend, along with High School Musical 2 and 3. I’m waiting for someone to say… Well, bless her little heart.

Mr. G, honey was working on a project 24/7. I had already bought out our local fruit & veggie market, roasted a chicken, baked squash, made applesauce, washed five thousand loads of laundry, mall-crawled and exercised. It was rainy, blustery, glorious autumn weather. Perfect for snuggling under a throw and letting the eyes focus on the tube of boobs.

All I can say is that, when I grow up, I want to be Sharpay. That girl was made for high school. Did anyone have more outrageous fun than her? I don’t think so. Next, I’d want to be her twin brother, Ryan. He had his funky fashion groove going on and doing choreography!

That’s how I spent my first weekend in October. Well… when I wasn’t snapping these — some of the many reasons why I feel autumn to the bone.
