Raise your hand…

Whine me. What’s wrong with this picture? Not that picture. This one. Finger pointing down.

Yesterday, it was 75 degrees fahren. The windows were thrown open. I could hear birdsong. I was clipping lilac. I was wearing a tee and some cropped pants. I could see my summer-ready toes, sporting No Autographs, Please by OPI. It was sunshine, lollipops and rainbows…

Today, it’s a whopping 49 degrees fahren. 49!! I struggled out of bed and slammed the windows shut. Scrambled into sweatpants and flannel shirt. Sniffed a little when I had to cover up the summer-ready toes with thick socks and ugly shoes.

My best bud is lazing around a resort in North — or South — Carolina this week. Who cares. She’s in the Carolinas. Does it really matter?

While I was on the other side of the gate, Miss Gracie ripped one of my new violas out of the ground and flung it to the four corners of the backyard, then proceeded to dig a sizable hole next to a just-leafing rose bush. I think she may be watching reruns of Prison Break when I’m in the office with the Do Not Disturb sign on the door.

I know. You’re waiting to hear me say that the cat ate my manuscript, right?

Raise your hand, if you want to head south for sand and sun and water…and little drinks with, or without, umbrellas. Go ahead. Do it now. Just put Raise Your Hand or Sand, Sun and Water in the comments section. If you have a specific destination in mind, name it — claim it.

My work here is done. Back to the manuscript the cat didn’t eat. Maybe a little Jimmy Buffett in the background. Yeah. I say Fiji!

  1. I’m not so much a hot day in the tropics kinda girl. I like the beach. I like to dip my toes or watch the dog chase waves but lying on a towel baking is not for me. That said, WTH?? happened to our weather. I’d like to be in the Carolinas right now, sitting on a deck drinking margaritas. Count me in.
Okay off to work on the manuscript the bird actually nibbled.

  2. LOL The Beach is a state of mind for me. I can’t actually go there with my very fair, ultra-sensitive-to-sun-skin without wearing a honking big hat — just like the pic — and SPF 60+ πŸ˜‰ That being said, I’m in a Beach state of mind. How about toobing down a river in Texas? Surely, there’s a patch of cloud I could sit under on Fiji? Just sayin’ Get Me Out Of Here!

    I like margaritas.

  3. Cali (Napa to be exact) isn’t much better. We’ve already had a day at 103 degrees and a few days later, cold, windy rain. My closet is packed because it’s sporting both Summer and Winter wear. I can’t pack the cold-weather clothes away yet.

Oh, and that’s a mighty fine color there, “No Autographs Please”. I’m a nail tech and it has been a hot request since the collection first came out. Though sometimes I think my clients pick colors not necessarily for their color, but for the name, alone. ha-ha Either way, fun!

Here’s to sunshine, beaches and large floppy hats (I’m fair-skinned too)!

    Have a wonderful day.

  4. Well, brrr. That can’t be good. lol I’ve decided to quit calling it summer/winter wear and just say I have a closet full of the layered look. πŸ˜‰ Yeah. You’ve gotta love those OPI color names. I love the reds and deep, deep pinks. My fave color to wear is I’m Not Really a Waitress red, even though I have been one. πŸ™‚

Yes — to sunshine, beaches and large floppy hats!! And, wonderful days.
