I Bought Spring…

Yup.

The snow was falling.

The weatherman was announcing that winter would be extended in Canadaland several + + + more weeks.

So.

I bought spring.

And the clerk, whose palm I crossed with loonies and toonies, folded it in green tissue.

Wrapped it in cellophane.

Tied it with a yellow ribbon.

And slid it over the counter.

I grabbed spring and ran.

That’s what we Northern Girls do when we’re hanging by our last winter nerve.

C’mon!

You would have done the same.

I know it.

Hump Day. Spring right over it.

Elen

Note: These clicks were totally experimental. I wanted to see if I could get the completely wrapped tulips through the cellophane. They remind me ever so much of watercolor, which is one of my favorite art mediums.

  1. Humpy Hap Day to you, too, Elen. A friend mused that she doesn’t know what to wish for as far as the end of the winter – a quick all in one go thaw and flood, or the slow receding of the pile of snow – which means June before we see green. Ah well. Enjoy your day!

  2. I like these photos a great deal. And I have been subsisting for these last several months on cut flowers . . .
