Hump Day: Strawberry and Strawberries… +

June is strawberry season in my neck of Canadaland. It won’t be long now.

I put two everbearing plants in the big box container — aka the crypt — this year.

They have glossy green leaves and large fruit, which I’m willing to ripen. I’m using gardening telepathy.

Hurry!

Nothing has nibbled on them… so far.

Not even me.

Everybody just help me stare that berry right there into a state of perfect ripeness.

Ready?

1…2…3… Go!

When I took these clicks this morning, my mind wandered to this ~

Strawberry Wine

There’s a music video that is perfection. You can see it here.

But I put up this musical moment with The Band Perry because — well, just look at the wimmin!

Remembering their first taste of love.

Released in 1996, Strawberry Wine won (among many, many awards) Song of the Year at the 1997 CMA awards.

Love you, Deana Carter.

Hump Day.

Let’s just belt out some Strawberry Wine lyrics with Deana.

Let me hear you belt.

  1. Strawberries out of your own yard is just the best. Probably not bad if you own a winery and can get that out of your backyard though.

  2. I love strawberries! When we lived in CA we’d drive up to Oxnard and pick our own. Some day I hope to have a larger area for growing. As it is now I have 2 round planter pots with hot peppers (for hubby), cilantro, basil, and tomatoes. Joan

  3. Elen, can I get an email for you? I have your questions for the Liebster Award and would rather just send to out to the other nominees and you by email. You can send it to me at kelliemacmillan@rogers.com
Thanks. I am putting my acceptance speech up next week and want to give you a chance to think about your post so I’m hoping to have it out to you by tomorrow.
