Single Shot Monday: Big Bulbs… +

The title of the post owes itself to Kellie over at Princess & The Yard Ape. If you haven’t been reading P&TYA, click on over. You’re going to get a blogload of fun about food & wine pairings and creative landscaping.

Kellie left a comment in one of my posts last week recommending Sharon Jones & The Dap-KingsIt’s a Holiday Soul Party. She gets me. (Click Enter Main Site.)

The sixth track on the album is called Big Bulbs.

After a weekend of Christmas baking with the Geekess of Geekery, we made tracks down to the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District. This was my fourth year, but the first year to go in daylight hours. While it didn’t have the dreamy, whimsical quality of the Christmas Market after dark, it was good times.

We started at Balzac’s around eleven o’clock with one Organic Eggnog Latte drinker, one Café Nordique drinker, and one dark roast drinker. Which drink was mine? Can you guess?

Meandered around some of the market stalls in the damp and spitting rain. Watched the kidlets on the Ferris wheel and the merry-go-round.

Stopped at a stall for hot dogs and brats with sauerkraut. Was I the brat with sauerkraut or the fully-loaded hot dog? Can you guess?

More shops. More people watching. More huddling next to fire pits.

A little ho-ho-ho here and a little ho-ho-ho there!

And a group of wandering carolers.

Some mulled wine and some hot cider. Which was mine? Can you guess?

It was a merry vibe.

I didn’t take nearly the clicks that I normally take after dark. I just wasn’t feeling the magical merry click moments. I needed the dark.

But I did take some shots of the 54 ft. Christmas tree with over 18,000 lights.

Here’s Monday’s single shot.

Baby, you got them big…

So crushing on Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings right now.

Thank you, Kellie!

And Monday is in the house.

Let’s get jazzy with it.

  1. I totally knew you could make a blog post out of Big Bulbs Elen. Thanks for the shout out, I’m blushing over here.
Here are my guesses: Nordique, Brat and Mulled. Let me know how I did. Sounds like one delicious Saturday my friend.

  2. Oh, cool! I just wrote down my guesses as I was reading. ah,ha,ha. Foodie adventures are so fun.
I nabbed a new song from iTunes yesterday by Jarvis Church called People Get Ready – he just released a tribute album “The Songs of Curtis Mayfield. I love his voice and used to listen to the Philosopher Kings many moons ago. After the song is over it goes right in to Sharon Jones. I’m totally diggin’ the jazz and soul!!!
