Single Shot Monday: Dangling Feet…

Hydrangea!

A much more subtle homage to autumn than Friday’s chrysanthemums.

Let’s do a twofer…

This is an old shrub, and it’s lost some branches along the way. There is some sagging and bagging going on, and a little thinning here and there. Sounds like a human experience to me. It doesn’t detract from its beauty, however. Age has its own rewards.

So…

So the long hall, entry, and closet are finished save for baseboard, which will be done this week. Then it’s on to the living/dining combo in a race to the holidays. Ha-ha. Ho-ho. Hee-hee. And…. whee! I’m beginning to give off an eau de paint smell and leave little flakes of white wherever I go.

Moving right along.

I took some time to see A Star Is Born on Sunday. It was a heart-wrenching story well-told. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga blew me away with their performances. Having seen the 1976 remake with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand of the 1954 Judy Garland and James Mason film of the same title), I tried not to think about that story while watching this one. This was grittier, darker, and left me totally wrung out. A lot changes in film in 42 years, not the least of which is reclining seats in the theater. Seats in which I have no option but to recline. Otherwise, I experience dangling feet. My feet will not touch the floor. I feel like Edith Ann.

A strong, bold film.

We’ve been having snow and rain and snow-rain and rain-snow here. The rusty and brilliant colors of autumn offset the darksome and graysome that defines October and November, making this always my favorite time of year.

And Monday is in the house.

Rinse and repeat.

  1. Do you still like the shade of white that you are using to paint the walls? That is the real question. The one that’ll make or break your dash to finish your rooms before the holidays.

  2. Your last paragraph is absolutely spot on (do I sound English with ‘spot on’? Watch too much Midsommer Murders on Netflix). The hydrangea is a plant for all season, even though it’s not doing anything in winter. So, I’m not the only one with painting projects, eh? Eh?
