Hosta!
All wet and autumnal on the first day of November. There’s a wee bit of thyme snuggled right up to it. I’ll show you the rest of that thyme patch another day. Maybe Monday.
Today, I’m having a playdate.
A day out.
A field trip in the big TO.
On the GO.
To the AGO.
I’m taking G-Man, and we’re meeting up with one of my fave people, writerly or otherwise.
Lunch is on the menu, as is Anthropocene — Edward Burtynsky, Jennifer Baichwal, and Nicholas de Pencier.
Anthropocene dramatically illustrates how we, individually and collectively, are leaving a human signature on our world. (AGO website)
I’m a huge fan of Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky, known for his photographic chronicling of global industrial landscapes.
You can learn more about Anthropocene here. I encourage you to do so.
It’s going to rain tomorrow. The Art Gallery of Ontario is one of my fave places to be on a rainy day.
Here be Friday.
Let’s get outta here.
You know what to do. Meet you in the bar in 3…2…1…
Carry on without me. Field trip!

Enjoy your playdate. The exhibition looks interesting. I’ll try not to be jealous of you, knowing all the fun you’ll be having on a Friday.

It was a fun day. Lots of walking in the rain. Good food. Good company. Great exhibit. Horrifying, but great.

Wow, your hostas really bleach out don’t they? Mine are still relatively green….
Enjoy the gallery. Nothing better to do on a rainy day!

It did this year. We’re sort of having an epic fall. It’s the first time I’ve seen them turn that yellow.

Is the AGO always packed on weekends? Good idea to go on a Friday! Burtynsky’s work is amazing, and has made a big impression on me.

I don’t know. I avoid the weekends like the plague. LOL Me, too, Bunty. Me, too.

Sounds like a great playdate. Like you, I think Edward Burtynsky does some very important and astonishing work. I saw the movie Manufactured Landscapes, portraying some of his work, at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. A documentary I really recommend.

I haven’t seen Manufactured Landscapes, but I have seen Watermark. I will look for the other doc. Thank you. It is important work.
