A day of one’s own…

I find myself with the rare luxury of a day of one’s own. I’m not sure how it happened, but I’m not going to spend a nanosecond pondering it.

I’m going to luxuriate in the little things — cutting a fragrant peony from my garden and placing it in my office; sitting on the front steps with my breakfast bowl and watching the neighborhood kids wind their way to school. Oh, it’s a struggle these last few days of June.

I’m going to give myself a facial mask and hope that the FedEx Man doesn’t coming knocking before I get it peeled off. Who am I kidding? I don’t have that kind of luck. But it is my day, so maybe….

Gracie and I will leash-up and go for a walk. A long walk. It’s a stunner of a day here. The maximum temp is going to be 65 Faren. Note: take a jacket.

None of this is going to take much time out of a whole day. The rest of the day, I’m going to be filling blank page after blank page with story — without interruption. I can hardly wait.

This probably doesn’t sound very exciting to you, but it’s working for me. No interruptions. My day.

What would you do with a day of your own?

Oops. Here come the school munchkins. Gotta go.
