Last year in November, we had lovely friends visiting from those United States of America. They were doing the autumn rail trip across Canada, but made a pit stop with us before riding the rails.
Among other things, we took them to one of my favorite places in TO — The Distillery District — aka Gooderham and Worts Distillery.
How do I love thee Distillery District? Let me count the ways.
I love your brick-lined streets. I love your restored Victorian architecture. I love your galleries and artist studios; your Young Centre for the Performing Arts; your cafes and eateries; your rich history from 1832 forward. I love that you are closed to all but pedestrian traffic. Most of all, I love your ever-changing display of sculpture.
And when I say sculpture, I’m talking Picasso big, baby!
While wandering the cobbled streets with our friends, saying things like behold that lamp fixture, I nearly ran over this with my camera and fainted.

Eep!

Iron Man?

I expected to see Tony Stark or Pepper Potts materialize any moment.
I’m trying not to dwell on how much that looks like me before caffeine.
I have to tell you, I covet this as a focal point for our new front landscaping. This could give one or two of our resident raccoons the fright they so richly deserve. Of course, one look and the postman might emigrate to Ireland.
Mr. G, honey does not share my unbridled enthusiasm. Isn’t that right, Mr. G, honey?
You can read more about The Distillery District here. Better yet, visit our fair Toronto. See for yourself.
That is cool and wild. Thanks.
