Please don’t let this be three episodes long…

I’m watching this. Yes. A return to 165 Eaton Place, home of the Bellamy family for the original series that ran for five seasons from 1971-1975 and contrasted the lives led between the privileged class upstairs and the servant class below stairs at the beginning of the twentieth century. It was drama as only the Brits know how to do it.

I mourn that the latest edition of Upstairs Downstairs is only three episodes long. It chronicles the lives of a new set of occupants above and below stairs beginning in 1936. The only cast member to return is Jean Marsh, who played the role of parlourmaid Rose in the original series and, along with Dame Eileen Atkins (who portrays a member of the Upstairs family in this season), created the series.

Please don’t let this be three episodes long.

Okay?

Thank you.
