In May of this year, visiting Washington, D.C. for the first time, I was particularly moved by this war memorial — The Vietnam Women’s Memorial (dedicated November 11, 1993). It is a tribute to the women who served during the Vietnam War (1956-1975).
Today, we mark the 20th anniversary of the dedication of this memorial.
In Canada, it is Remembrance Day. In the U.S., it is Veterans Day. We remember those who have served; those who have fallen. We give thanks for their service and the sacrifices they have made. We honor them this day — lest we forget.
Thanks for reminding me of this memorial. I remember when it was dedicated, but it had long since fallen through the wide holes in the ragged, rusty sieve of my memory. Very fine photos, too.

Thank you. There is so much raw emotion wrapped up in that one small piece of sculpture. I couldn’t look away.
