Walking Into September!
After the Labor Day weekend, the rhythm of the neighborhood suddenly changes.
The Burbville neighbors are still in a race to winter, ripping out this, putting in that. Pat and tidy. Tidy and pat.
But now utility trucks are adding to the mix. Poking here. Poking there. Causing tremors in the power grid, wobbles in the Net.
Crossing guards are at their stations. Kids, with parents and pups in tow, are hitting the sidewalks with a purpose.
Bells are ringing.
School’s in session.
Outside of readying some pots for fall plants, I was a sloth over the Labor Day weekend. We had humidex numbers hitting 100. Again. Some rain. We’re in the Canadian tropics, baby.
Cooking good food, watching sci-fi and British mysteries — some folk were gaming, too — was the order of the day.
Aaaaand I finished reading New York Times and USA Today Best Selling Author Lauren Dane’s Whiskey Sharp series — UNRAVELED, JAGGED, TORN. Bold characters, strong storylines, laugh out loud and heart-in-your-throat moments, and heartwarming romance… with heat. When I forget to breathe and my throat starts working without any sound coming out, I know I’m reading something capital G good.
If you haven’t read any Lauren Dane before, this is a good place to start. She has no idea I’m over here talking about her. We don’t know each other. I’m a sharer of things I love.
See. Labor Day sloth. Totes.
So. Are you breathing a sigh of relief that September is here? Or are you like doing the whole September is here freak-out? And how did you spend the Labor Day weekend?
I’m asking for a friend.
Tuesday, y’all.
