Today, I’ll be reporting to Sven. I’ve got a visual of me…standing on a blue mat with feet together, shoulders slumped back, writing gut sucked in. Sven is in front of me looking all hot…sweaty…fit. There are 323 of us sweaters now. I’m Sweater No. 312. I blogged about it when I signed-up on the 19th of October. My goal — 1,000 words/day. It was a rocky start. At my first check-in on the 21st, I’d sweat only 283 words. Sven didn’t like that number. I whispered that I had edited and revised 5600 words, too. I didn’t check-in on the 24th. I was FTA (failure to appear). I was flexing writing muscle. Do Not Disturb.
In my visual, this is how it’s going down: My eyes are trained on Sven. He’s got his hands on his hips, his legs in a wide stance, his weight balanced to the left. My chin goes up. I deliver the news — 7995 words since my last visit to the mat, for a total of 8278 words of sweat equity. That’s an avg of 920 words/day. I don’t see a smile, but I do catch a flicker of interest. At the end of the day, maybe…just maybe…I’ll be a contender.
Okay. I’m ready for my audience with Sven.
