Iron Man was too fun! I spent half my time wanting to be Iron Man and the other half wanting to be Pepper Pots. Pepper Pots had killer shoes, but Iron Man could fly, baby. Who doesn’t want to fly — just once?
I thought Robert Downey, Jr. was well cast as Tony Stark/Iron Man, capturing the weaknesses of the man and the strengths of the superhero. Gwyneth Paltrow portrayed the perfect Pepper Pots. Yeah. Say that super-fast. James Bond’s Moneypenny comes to mind, only more. Jeff Bridges’ Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger was bang on. Terrence Howard — well, what’s not to love? The special effects were just what I would expect. The only negative for me was that the pacing was a little slow at times. It screamed comic book superhero story and that’s just what I was there for, so it did not disappoint.
I didn’t even bother to read my hometown reviewer before seeing it. He doesn’t like anything I like. I plunked my cash on the counter, snatched up my ticket and sleeve of Rolo, and made ready to be entertained. Go. See. Fly!
Uh. Did I miss anything, Matt? Matt blogs at Fictional Discipline.
Heads up! Here comes Monday.
