I’m pausing for a post to show you my weekend project. My Labor Day weekend project on Thanksgiving weekend.
Our front door needed a refresh. I wanted to do it with a mouse click, but it just didn’t work that way. Not even saying abracadabra worked. I did try.
Nothing to do but get to it.
Once the new frontscape was in, I looked at my front door with a flinty eye. It looked tired. Used. Isn’t that the way?
It looked like this —

Ho. Hum.
When we did the do over with the rescue chair, it was actually a color test for Lucky Bamboo. I knew I wanted something that popped on my front door. I was hoping this would be it. So we took it for a little test drive.
Then I did this —

I thought about leaving it at that. I really liked the funk grunge thing it had going on, but I don’t think my neighborhood is ready for funk grunge. They can be reserved. I already broke ranks when I chose a deep grey blue for our siding, instead of a neutral mushroom. I have never regretted it.
Last coat —

Oh, she’s poppin’.
Fini!

I was feeding man today, so I had to fix man food. It was raining, and there was a measurable chill in the air. No. I didn’t measure it. But it was measurable.
I went with 5-Hour Stew. Moo. This is a beefy baron. You put all your stew ingredients into a big dutch oven and throw it in your oven on a low heat for five hours. Do not dare to lift the lid. Add a green salad and some sour dough bread.
And that is how you feed a hungry man. Or two. Or several.
And then I wrote.
That was my Hump Day.

Yep, it pops. I like it. The new colour sets off the door wreath much nicer than the old boring white
