Autumn Blur!

The long weekend.

Sometimes it feels weird. No one’s going back to school in my casa. But the school bells keep me in the know. Love that. The rhythm and purpose of it.

I intend not to labour on this fine long weekend, though I appreciate labour in all its forms and all labourers and their efforts to improve workers’ rights.

And since I’m celebrating in Canada, I’ll just put the ‘u’ in labour.

Not that it’s the last long weekend. If you live in Canada, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Before Halloween. Before it cools down enough to have turkey and stuffing and gravy and sweet potato casserole and pie. It’s taken me a long time to adjust to that. I’m not sure I’m there yet.

I’ll be About Town this weekend — seeing a play in the 6ix, enjoying the Toronto International BuskerFest for Epilepsy, and taking in the Artfest Toronto at the Distillery.

Why is everything happening in one weekend?

You? What will you be up to this fine Labour/Labor Day weekend?

If you’re barbecuing, nix the wire brush. Use half a raw onion on a warm grill or a ball of foil.

Here be Friday.

Meet you in the bar in 3…2…1…

Yes, the header image is new. A nice little slice of autumn watercolour just for you. Enjoy!

Happy long weekend, y’all.

Today’s taboo word is sitting at 2 in the chart above. I’m not even going to whisper it.

  3. II think but was W Churchill who said, ‘I could never get used to Tgiving in Oct. Never! Never! Never!’ Now, there was a smart man as opposed to me, a smart pants… (Or reasonable facsimile, thereof). Have a great weekend. Me, whatever chores she has lined up for me to do…
