dance, girl, dance…

PBS has been televising a program called Pioneers of Television. I think it aired early in 2011. It’s on Sunday nights in my neck of TV-land, and I’ve been glued, riveted, engrossed…

Last night, they covered the pioneers of late night talk shows — Steve Allen, Jack Parr, Johnny Carson, et al. But the week before, it was sitcoms — Jackie Gleason, Andy Griffith, Lucille Ball, Dick Van Dyke…

My father loved these programs, especially Johnny Carson.

I Love Lucy ran from 1951 – 1957. I, like many, saw it in reruns. You can still see the zany comedy that is Lucy in reruns today. And everyone understands when someone says, “I had an I Love Lucy moment.”

This young Lucy took me by surprise.

Oh, the dress! The dancing!

For your Monday viewing pleasure ~

From the 1940 film, Dance, Girl, Dance.

Hello, Monday! Time to get to work. It’s a full writing day.

    • Hi Cynthia – Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. I’m learning a lot from watching Pioneers of Television. They were smart and funny, and the comedic timing was spot on. Good luck with NaBloPoMo!
