Violets are Popping!
These are slowly taking over my side garden like the best underplanting ever. And they’re pretty much at their peak.
Can you believe this is the last day of May?
I can’t.
There’s usually more Burbville farming happening by now, but the night temps are still coolish. Too coolish.
So…
How about those Raptors, Canada?
Wednesday, I finally, finally got to see Come From Away, the story of the 38 planes diverted to Gander in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, and the small community that welcomed them into their lives for 5 days.
It’s the first live theater musical production that I could have turned around and walked right back into the evening performance. It lifts you up and rings you out. You laugh and cry in the same breath. And everyone is on their feet stomping and clapping at the end of the performance.
The End.
Here be Friday. The last Friday of May.
Get your Friday freak on.
You know what to do. Meet you in the bar in 3…2…1…

We had 2 warm days last weekend and I think everything popped overnight. We’re so far behind this season…

Same. I try to be grateful that I’m not flooded or on fire! And go with the flow.

Coolish, indeed!
Hey! I finally saw Come From Away, too. In London – last week. I sat beside a lady from NYC, who said it was her second time seeing the show (first ON Broadway). A pretty good endorsement. She said it would be emotional and it was. Interestingly there are no big name stars and for a musical the music was, well, meh (except perhaps for the reels at the end). BUT I’d see it again in a heartbeat! I guess it’s the mirror that it holds up to humanity. Can’t recommend it enough!

Well, how lovely to see it in London, Janet. Woot!! No. No big stars, which I think is part of its appeal. The voices here were fantastic, and I did enjoy the music because it is what I would expect to come out of Newfoundland, and it created an energy which was important for the pacing of the story. Yes, I hope to see it again. Just so. Cheers!

You are absolutely right. The music definitely created an energy. And the pace! Non-stop from beginning to end. Without a break! I loved it.
